I took them up on their offer of Dorico for $150.
End of an era.
Have you ever looked at Musescore, especially recently? It's very quite
full-featured and is continuously improving. And, of course, free. I'm
curious what more you get for $150.
I haven't run it for a number of years. I admit I didn't consider
it, assuming that the project would be lacking in important ways.
I will have another look.
I do like Dorico, so far. You don't need to switch tools all the time,
so I started entering all music, dynamics, slurs etc. in a linear fashion,
whereas with Finale I always did many passes; music on stave 1, then 2...
then dynamics, then slurs etc. Most things are under the fingers.
Post by NilI remember checking out Finale along time ago, and the interface seemed
impenetrable to me at that time. However, I wasn't really used to
notation software then, but after using Musescore for a while, I now
understand the process better and might get along with other notation
programs. But for my fairly limited needs, Musescore ticks off most or
all the boxes.
